Life lately.

Life has been so hectic and stressful lately. The wedding is 6 weeks away and I still have so much to do it's insane! But aside from the stressfulness of it all, I am unbelievably  happy. Patrick and I had a date night, where we just sat at home and watched 21 Jump Street while eating the most amazing doughnuts around and laughed. I needed it and it feels good that we can do the simplest things together and still have a good time. Sorry I haven't done an outfit post in awhile, I feel like my inspiration for outfits is running a low. I promise I will try harder at getting some done though!

I hope ya'll have a week filled with sunshine and happiness.

Wedding Ideas Thus Far

Patrick and I decided a candy/dessert bar was a must.
Aren't they presh?!

I can't even begin to tell ya'll how in love I am with using Mason Jars for everything!

I saw this idea on Pinterest last week, and immediately went on the hunt
for just the right jar to do this adorable idea with. I found that jar today, and it was on sale!
SCORE! ;)

And finally, this is our wedding invitation! I love them soooo much. :)
We ordered them off Etsy and seriously, there's a reason I love Etsy so much,
the women we ordered the cards from was so helpful and we exchanged
at least 7 emails back and forth before I ordered. Talk about customer service!

I hope ya'll liked the sneak peek of what's been going on in the planning
stages so far.
What do you guys think?
What would you do/did do to make your magical day happen?

Happy Thursday!!

Mumford & Sons

For the past two years I have had a major obsession with the band
Mumford and Sons.
I can not express you to enough how beautiful their music, lyrics, and just the essence of them is. I generally like a band, buy their album, then have that one or two songs I skip past because they just don't flow. Not with this band. I could listen to their entire album on repeat all day, everyday if Patrick and January would let me. ;)

This is currently my go to song when I'm feeling down.
What do you think? Any bands you love to no end?

Happy Monday ya'll!

A little love story.

**Warning: This post is going to be quite sappy. Hope you can bare with me :)

Okay ya'll..I found it! I found the dress I want to marry the love of my life in...and it was in the first shop we went too and only took me like an hour to decide. That's pretty good right?
I can't even believe...everything that's going on..I'm still in shock that I'm actually getting married. I honestly thought I would never get married, at the age of ten I had decided that marriage wasn't for me. It's strange how one person can affect your thoughts and feelings soo much isn't it? When Patrick and I first got together I didn't think we'd last. I had the mind set, it'll be fun while it lasts and kind of went with the flow of things. But then I fell...hard for this kid with unbelievably gorgeous blond curly hair. Patrick and I met online, through yahoo messenger actually, and we had been dating for a few months when he came to Georgia to meet/visit me. It was so scary and interesting meeting someone you'd never seen but had only connect through the sound of their voice before in real life. My older sister Gretchen went with me for safety of course and we had a blast talking about how this mystery man would turn out. When Patrick first got off the plane I saw him and immediately turned around, I was soo nervous!! He ended up staying with my family and I for over a month then ended up going back to Maine from the lack of funds. I moved to Maine two days after I graduated from high school. (The things you do for love huh?) The first year in Maine was hell. I had no friends and no self esteem. But like all things you get past those things to even greater things later. I honestly believe moving to Maine helped me develop who I am as a person. People from Maine always say, "People move to Maine thinking they can change it, but people don't change Maine, Maine changes people." I'm glad I moved to Maine, I've been so blessed within my endeavours, and I can't even begin to tell you how thankful I am for everything my life has given me thus far. I can't wait for all the new adventures life has en store for my little family and me. Thanks for sticking with me this far guys, I hope it wasn't too boring. ;)

Luna Lovegood

Everyone, I would like to introduce you to the newest member of our family,
Luna.

Why yes, we did name her Luna for my absolute love of all things Harry Potter. ;)
Ridiculous right?

We adopted her today, at 3:30pm from our local humane society. She's a American Bulldog mix and has the most beautiful marble like fur. Aw so presh! I think she is a perfect addition to our little family! She's so mellow and sweet and wags her little tail anytime January gets near her, best friends in the making right there. :)

Happy Friday everyone!

Bruce from Matilda. I can't even tell you how many times I've watched that movie and am still in love.

Ferris Wheels. I mean, what's not to love. ;)

I really need to remember this, I get way to0 caught up in the numbers. :/

Other things I'm loving: the feeling I get after I go for a run, watching the show Drop Dead Diva (if you haven't watched it, I insist that you do, seriously a great show!), White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cliff bars..yumm!

Anything ya'll have been crushing on lately?

Happy Birthday America!!

I must say that I absolutely love the Fourth of July! We had a fun filled day of going to the small town fair they throw every year and stuffing our faces with wayy to many sweets.
I wore wedges for the first time today and my dress was a wee bit too short but oh wells, ya live and you learn right? I love my wedges, I have literally always been such a chicken about them, but I was soo wrong about them! I might becoming a wedge-aholic. ahaha

January's first firework experience was tonight, and she was giggling the whole time! It was just so precious and she kept yelling, "Happy Birthday Captain America!!", haha She has this superhero phase that she's going through.

She had to take a picture sitting on her car! I mean doesn't evvveerryybbooddy? ;)
I hope ya'll had a wonderful Fourth doing amazing things!!
Psst. Sorry for such blurry pictures I'm not sure why they keep posting like this, grrr.

Birthdays!

So, no biggie or anything, buuuttt....today is my BIRTHDAY!!!
I had possibly one of the most laid-back, most awesome-est, birthday I've had in a very long time! I had to work, meh, but one of my friends brought in fun-fetti cookies, (to diieee for seriously) and I thought my day had been completely made, but I was sooo wrong! I called up to the front of the store around noonish and when I got there, Patrick stood there with a vase filled with amazingly beautiful flowers he had spent his lunch break picking for me! Talk about melting my sweet little heart!

Then later that night after showering and making myself look presentable Patrick and I drove the one hour drive to the nearest Ruby Tuesday's and had a lovely dinner with lots of flirting and laughing and just plain fun. <3 <3

I've been having a very stressful past few weeks, and my birthday was just low key and mellow and just filled with happiness, which was exactly what I needed! I am so grateful for my amazing family and friends that made my birthday so much more amazing!! Being 22 isn't so bad....riigghht? (Just kiddin' I am totally going to start using anti-wrinkle cream pronto!)

On to other news..notice any changes? I have changed both the name on my blog and the blog design! Actually the lovely gal over at HelloLyndsey did all this incredibleness! She rocks and is super nice make sure to check out her blog! :)

Well I hope you all are having a fantastic week filled with happiness and adventures!!

Changes

Hey ya'll! I know I haven't done an outfit post or a post period in quite some time and I'd like to give a little explanation on to whats going on in my life. Patrick, January, and I are in the stages of planning a big change for our little family. I won't give too many details right at the moment, I don't really want to jinx anything (I'm wicked superstitious.) But *fingers crossed* that everything will fall into place and that I can share this exciting news with all of you soon! I need to gush. ;)
Secondly, PrettyLittleLayers is going to be having a lot of changes. I have been pondering for some time on weather or not 'PrettylittleLayers', is well, me. I feel very constricted to this name for my blog, and it might just be me doing it to myself, but I feel like Prettylittlelayers just isn't who I am anymore. It makes me feel like I must show outfits of lace, florals, and dainty things, when in reality I love all of things, but sometimes I wear skulls, and glitter and just want to rock out. I want something that describes me as a person, my likes, and dislikes. I also feel like my blog looks very amateur, and I would like to take the time to get a total blog revamp! Hopefully I can get all these things in order, and have a better blog set up for all of you and myself. Thanks for sticking with me. Have a lovely Saturday dears.

Mothers Day

As most of you know, I am the mother to most amazing little girl, miss January-Grace, and everyday since her arrival on May 14th 2009 has been pure bliss. A funny thing happens when you become a mother, all those weird things that you said that you wouldn't do when you were little, become everyday occurrences. For example, I hated when my mother would lick her thumb and rub it on my face to clean whatever it was that I had messily skewed all over. While running errands the other day, I gave January a granola bar that had chocolate in it, (big mistake by the way) and when we arrived it was all over her face. I stopped and laughed then started licking my finger and vigorously rubbing it on her face to wipe up the mess. Thanks Mom for teaching me this handy trick. ;) When I was 14 years old I was told I wouldn't be able to have children, and at the time it didn't really strike home, I was 14 and I was like "Hey, I'm a kid, so meh, whatever." But around the age of 17 my older sister Gretchen, had my beautiful niece Alyssa and this changed my whole perspective around the having children thing. I thought all hope was lost and this was a very hard time in my life. I proved the doctor wrong though, I did get pregnant, (a complete surprise, but the best surprise I have ever had) and for this January will always be my miracle baby. I love her with all that I am, and I feel very blessed to be able to celebrate this Mother's Day.

Everyone this is the person that made me into who I am, and loves me unconditionally, my amazing Mother. She's put up with my shenanigans all my life, and has never held them against me. When I'm down, she's the person that I call, and never fails to put a smile on face or to make me laugh. We are a lot alike and my Dad always used to say that's why we'd butt heads on a lot of things, but I still like to think I can disagree, even if he's right. Don't let him know I said that. ;) So here's to you Momma for, loving me, letting me know when I'm wrong, believing in my dreams, and teaching me how to be such a great mother. I love you, and I wish I could be home in Georgia with you.

Even if you're not a Mommy, I hope ya'll have an amazing day, having adventures and doing whatever it is that you fancy. :)

Few of my favorite things: Tuesdays

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.”
Dr. Seuss

Hello lovies! This week has been one of the most hectic weeks I've had in a while. Mid-terms are this week and I'm freaking out a little bit. I'm in my second year of school, but this is my first semester going full time, so my stress level has been off the charts lately, but thankfully Patrick has been kind enough to deal with my grumpiness. :) All this being said this week I've been all about feel good quotes and happy pictures. Enjoy. :)

This makes me giggle. hehe

I love these.

I really do hope that you do, because you are. :)

Sixteen pounds down baby!

And just for some eye candy. I still love him. ;)

May your week be filled with sunshine.

Polyvore obsession

"If they can make penicillin out of mouldy bread, they can sure make something out of you."
Muhammad Alli

I am not tech savy..whatsoever and during my journeys of looking and drooling at other bloggers fabulous sites I've noticed a lot of them do "want" or "must have" lists with little collages of clothes they want, like, or just outfit ideas. Fabulous right?! For the longest time I was in the dark on how they were doing such things, I never even attempted anything of such awesomeness, then I discovered Polyvore.  My late nights are now spent making outfit collages and outfit ideas! I think I'm in Heaven (it seems as though I'm being a tad dramatic, but I can't help it, I am just super excited!)

My first layout. I think I was feeling navy with coral. :)

My second and my favorite layout! If I had the money I would totally buy and rock this outfit! Is it spring yet? Well, it should be. ;)

Do ya'll use Polyvore and if so what are some of the outfits you've created? I'd love to see them! :) Happy Hump Day!!

Angry cats & more snow

"You can't help that. We're all mad here." The Cheshire Cat from Alice and Wonderland

Sweater&Scarf: Modcloth Boots:Mardens

This weekend it snowed again. :( I am beyond mega bummed. Snowy weather always brings out my big comfy sweaters, and my angry cat sweater via Modcloth is my absolute favorite clothing item I own! If I'm having a blah day and not sure what to wear, I always turn to this. It is really big, but I added a belt and wore it over a burnt orange dress and bam! Instant cuteness. Here's to hoping that y'alls weekend is warmer than mine. :)

Breaking a sweat

"Sweat is your fat crying."

Today was a hard day. I have been going to Weight Watchers and working towards my NY's resolution of running a 5k since the first of the year. I've lost in total 13 pounds and I've gotten myself up to running around 2.25 miles on my treadmill. Every time I look in the mirror though I don't see any change, I actually feel as though I am bigger! I'm totally discouraged, I mean with all the exercising and eating right that I'm doing I feel as though I should be seeing some kind of change in my body. Any advice on how to get a better workout or any weight loss/get healthy tips would be greatly appreciated. :)

Wishing for Sunshine

"The rays of happiness, like those of light, are colorless when unbroken."
Henry W. Longfellow

I've been feeling out of sorts for the past week or so, not entirely sure why, but I will be blaming it on the lack of sunshine Maine has been getting. Today the wind was blustery and cold, with an overcast that makes for horrible lighting, so this is my sorry attempt of an outfit picture. :)

Outfit: Dress&Jacket:Target
Tights:Wallyworld Scarf:Modcloth

Wishing for sunshine this week and that ya'll will have a peachy weekend. (sorry it's the Georgia girl coming out hehe)

Candy hearts, chocolates, & all that mushy stuff

"All you need is love. But a little bit of chocolate now and then doesn't hurt."

Happy Valentines day dolls! For two years now I have been blessed with the greatest Valentine a girl could ask for. :)

Isn't she lovely? Goodness I love her! January-Grace's third birthday will be here before I know it and I am so unprepared. I don't want it to come, honestly, she's my baby and I wish she could stay like this forever. But I am excited to see what kind of person she'll grow up to be and all the adventures we have in store. :)
I hope all of you are having a magical Valentine's day!

Tuesday, February 7

A few of my favorite things, Tuesdays.

"Life is too short, smile while you still have teeth."

I've decided to make my posts on Tuesdays all about a few of my favorite things! This week is all about some amazing beauty products that you don't have to spend an arm and leg to get.

Favorite for your lips: Maybelline's new line of chap sticks Baby Lips. Patrick got me a stick for Christmas after my many subtle hints that I needed new chap stick. I loved it so much I had to get another! My third favorite is MAC lipstick from their Disney Villain's line. Sorry I can't give the name for the color I have, (I purchased it off eBay.)

My favorites: eyes, face, & nails.

  • I am in love with Rimmel London's Scandaleyes mascara! It gives my lashes the right amount of volume and length, and best of all, NO clumps!
  • I have this obsession with finding the perfect eyeliner. I have found that ones with a felt like tip work the best for me, (I've never been able to color inside the lines). I don't use a lot of E.L.F products only because I haven't had the best of luck with a lot of the products in the past, but I have to give it to them with their liquid eyeliner pen! It creates both a thin and dramatic line. For only a dollar I can't resist using it!
  • Whilst in Portland last month I had my first experience in a Sephora store. And...I was like a kid in a candy store there! It was amazing. I ended up buying their Mineral Baked eyeshadow pallet and Prisma Chrome eyeshadow.
  • Yes to Carrots Nourishing creme. Oh how I love thee. Another amazing Christmas gift from Patrick. :)

New Shoes! I've been eyeing these wedges for over a year now and they finally got marked down to a price range that I could afford, $150 down to $19.99! What a steal! I can not wait to wear these, pictures coming soon.

Are there any new make up products that you've tried and loved? I'd love to know. :)
Kind regards,

Ariel
